It was truly a night to remember as PCA’s forest health work was celebrated at the opening night of The Caboose, an exciting new net-zero event space in Hudson. A capacity crowd of more than 150 people gathered to enjoy a meal prepared by four of the Hudson Valley’s top chefs, including three nominees for the prestigious James Beard Award.

Alarmed by the widespread forest regeneration failure throughout NY and the Hudson Valley, PCA has recruited a special task force to provide input into our programmatic work and funding in this space.

The Gallatin CAC hosted an Earth Day event to install a low-cost, innovatively designed deer exclosure to protect a portion of the woods from continued overbrowsing. Fence construction was supported by a 2023 PCA Ecological Restoration Grant.

With the help of a 2023 Ecological Restoration Grant from PCA, the Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy is combating shoreline threats by using an innovative combination of techniques for native plant restoration and shoreline stabilization.

She discussed the relationship between the Bond Act and the CLCPA and local actions that towns can and should consider.
